THE RE-ALIGNMENT OF APPROXIMATELY 4 KM OF NATIONAL ROUTE 7 BETWEEN KRANSVEIKLOOF AND CLANWILLIAM

Clients: South African National Roads Agency Limited & Department of Water Affairs and Sanitation

Main Contractor: Haw & Inglis

Contract Value: R 300 000 000

Due to the Department of Water Affairs and Sanitation deciding to raise the Clanwilliam Dam wall by 14 meters, a new alignment was neccessary for this section of road, seeing as the old N7 would be flooded by new dam levels. After the design phase it was decided to align the new road through farming property, this created the unique opportunity to build a new 400m long bridge. The construction took 2 years.
